Scottsdale – Episode 2

Tuesday

IT STOPPED RAINING!!!! Andre was scheduled to play his Qualifier (this was eventually to be Marcos Ondruska) 3rd match of the day, so everything was turning out right again. I bought a decent ticket too.

1 hour after buying a decent ticket an announcement came over that due to weather conditions, the Qualifying Matches have only just been completed therefore all 3rd Matches on all courts today will be postponed until tomorrow! Oh well it wasn’t Marcos’s fault – just more expense for me!!!

First up: Vince Spadea v Marcello Rios. I was routing for Vince for this match – usually he’s deadly enemy no.1 for the prime reason he has this annoying habit of beating Andre whenever they play – but today I was routing for him as I cant stand Marcello Rios for a number of reasons – he lost (Vince not Marcello).

Next - Carlos Moya v Mariano Zabaleta (much more about him in a later instalment). We waved the Argentinian Flag for Mariano but Carlos won :o(

After Carlos won, somebody informed me Andre was in the top caged practice court – so of course I went to investigate…. Sure enough – there he was – Sara was camped out at the next cage as Tim AND Nico were practicing together – poor girl – talk about divided loyalties!! Back to Andre….. Yep there was most definitely a prime specimen of Topless Tennis Player on display in the top cage that afternoon!. I know that now Ive lost count of the number of times I've seen this Guy but he's definitely got "something" that just attracts many people - male, female, young, old to him just like a magnet. Its indescribable.

After about 45 minutes watching this Guy show us what he's made of (there were crowds of people at both exits), a Security Guy stepped into the Cage and said "Sorry Andre but this court is now booked". His immediate reply was "Oh yeah - who to?"

The embarrassed Security Guy had to say "To a Private Lesson Im afraid" Sorry but everyone thought that was REALLY funny. The Greatest Sportsman in his Field (in many people's opinion), King of the Courts, + all the other really tacky cliche's you can possibly think of was being kicked of his territory for the sake of a "Private" lesson!. Still the lucky Guy and his Coach got a personal introduction with the Only Man to complete a Personal Grand Slam + get a Gold medal too - so that must have been worth the lesson fee in itself!

I mentioned he was caged, well Team Agassi left Him to it in the Cage, after the introduction thing, the poor Guy then really did look like a caged animal at a complete loss as to which exit to leave through (seriously - crowds were still at both exits ) but unfortunately for me - he took the farther one. And then dissappeared until Wednesday!

I then went to watch Patrick Rafter v Juan Carlos Ferrero. Pat Lost. Sorry Pat got taken to the Cleaners by Juan! Juan Carlos Ferrero is another player worthy of watching too. A bit of a quiet Giant Killer!

To be continued!!!
