Indian Wells Part two

The draw was announced Sunday evening. Andre's First Opponent was Hitcham Arazi. When I saw that my heart sank. I remembered how well Hicham played during the Australian Open, I thought then that maybe next time they met Hicham would have done his homework and possibly would really work on beating Andre. I most definitely did not want that to happen in front of me!!!

I have this uncanny reaction to match-ups I just hope Hicham does not become another Vince Spadea.

The match itself was really good, I was on the edge of my seat, it was a tight match, Hicham got the first break - you could feel the tension between everyone in the crowds WILLING Andre to beat him, I know I was, I know the Guy next to me was too (I heard him - he probably heard me too).

2nd Set Andre won - phew - it wasn't going to be a repeat of last week - sorry there was NO WAY last week's match even came close to this one.

3rd Set Hicham got the break and then it was all over. Andre had left the tournament.

Pam Shriver was hovering around the Players area after the match. Someone asked her where He was - she replied (quite good humouredly) "He's gone - and you don't want to see him today - he's in a REALLY good mood at the moment!"

So he left - word has it that he skipped the Press Conference too - good for him!! - the last thing Id want is loads of vultures picking over me!

The next time I saw the subject of this website was 12 days later in Miami.

BUT that did not mean the next 12 days were boring - not by a long chalk - it was back to Operation Support the South Americans - which I did easily - Nico and Mariano are two great guys who REALLY appreciated our support!

Mariano beat Marcello Rios in an awesome match (see Mariano for more details) and Nico totally stuffed Hicham Arazi in the Quarterfinals (as requested - and on Stadium Court) scoreline 6-2 6-0!! (see Nico (to be typed up) for more details too)

On to Miami!!
